A decentralised stablecoin with no licensed issuer that cannot be frozen, overcollateralised by crypto, USDC and real-world assets. Being gradually replaced by USDS; it depegged to USD 0.88 along with USDC in 2023.

- iDAI is being converted 1:1 into USDS (launched 09/2024), now Sky's main stablecoin; some exchanges have dropped DAI support on some networks. USDS has upgradeable contracts, so governance could add a freeze function; DAI is immutable.
